The giant poppy, or Papaver somniferum Giganteum, naturally has a very pale lilac or greyish colour, which makes it an ideal product for drying. Like the name suggests, this poppy is much bigger than the regular one and the advantage therefore are much bigger seed heads and with a lack of stripes that can be found on normal Papaver variants. Our giant poppies are also sown, grown, harvested and dried in the Netherlands. This plant gives you the feeling of a blooming field, with waving flowers as far as the eye can see. The impression is also of undersea flora, the remains of the flower looking like a type of soft coral. The Papaver somniferum Giganteum is only available in its natural colour. The stem fits perfectly in a composition with the darker tones of the seed pods of Lotus (Nelumbo) or the white shades of German Statice (Statice tatarica) and Birch branches.
